The Factory
The Factory is a cosmic ritual disguised as a party. Created by Kate Name, this full length immersive show invites the audience into a surreal reimagining of Andy Warhol’s infamous silver art studio. Audience members are welcomed as partygoers at Warhol’s tin foiled dream factory - where they can sit for their own Screen Test, silkscreen pop art paintings, help film an underground movie, and rock out with the live band. As the audience and the cast collaborate to create original art in real time, the story of Warhol’s Factory unfolds around them.
At the center of the show is a repeating cycle - a time loop driven by the events that led to Valerie Solanas’s attempted assassination of Andy Warhol. Each rotation reveals new layers of the Factory mythos. And with every loop, one audience member is chosen to become Andy’s next Superstar - experiencing their own 15-Minute of Fame before the spotlight moves on to it’s next victim. Blending dance, music, and perfectly choreographed chaos, The Factory turns the machinery of fame into a living myth - one where the audience plays both witness and participant in the making (and unmaking) of icons.
After two successful workshops at 3 Dollar Bill (Brooklyn’s largest queer performance venue) Kate is now seeking producing partners to bring The Factory to its next evolution: a full-scale, long-running immersive experience in New York City.
